Thank you so much for checking out my first page to my blog! I decided to begin a blog as a way to share my work and thoughts on art and it's process, in a new and hopefully interesting way to you, the reader! This will be a weekly blog either recapping a project from the week, showing work in progress or just talking about the creative process and the triumphs and struggles we all face.
To start it off, since I just (finally) finished a series I have been working on for about six months or so I'll jump into it!
I find for myself, its most helpful to have a solid subject matter to get a piece going. I couldn't think of anything at the time so I decided to pick up a classic topic seen through art across the ages; the four changing seasons. I'm talking Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, the old slip and slide through the year. Well, it's a pretty broad subject but it was a good catalyst for an open and fun series that focused on the human figure and nature.
I did them in chronological order starting with Fall/Autumn. I then decided to redo that piece after I did all the others, so it ended with Fall as well.
I always start with a sketch of some sort like these two for autumn and spring.
Autumn & Spring Sketches
Below are my final four paintings all lined up. I feel pretty happy with how they turned out and glad to be finished this series to move on some larger work. Have you ever done a series on the seasons? What was your take? I'd love to see some others work on the seasons whether it be one or all of them! Feel free to post below!
